Tour Description:

Our excellent english speaking driver guide will meet right at the exit of your ship at 8:00am with a sign bearing your name for your combination day with a driver guide and walking guide to give you a very comprehensive look at Florence and Pisa.  You will set out for the incredible city of Firenze, as we Italians call it. The drive is approximately 90 minutes until you reach your first stop for a breathtaking panoramic view of the city from Piazzale Michelangelo.  Here you will see some of the main sites of the city with a little introduction of Florence making a cappuccino stop just to be sure that you are awake. Time allowing you may have a few more stops with the driver before your walking tour begins.

Once in Piazza San Marco by late morning, your driver will introduce you to your walking guide for a 2.5-hour tour of several of the major sites of the city.  Your first stop on your walking tour will the Accademia, which houses the most famous statue in the world, David by Michelangelo.  In addition, you will see six of his unfinished works that will show you not only his style, but also his devotion and capacity to get human beings closer to religion. Sculpting was Michelangelo`s life, and at the same time, his way to bring humanity to a higher awareness and his work has a profound impact on it`s viewers.

Next, you will start towards the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore where you will discuss the beautiful exterior and learn about the Gates of Paradise at the Baptistery. After a short walk, you will arrive at Piazza della Repubblica which was the former center of Florentia.  At the Piazzale degli Uffizi you will find the statues that boast the most important artists, politicians and scientists from Tuscany, a great preview of the sculptures in Piazza della Signoria, the political center of the town.  You will continue on to see the facade of the Church of Santa Croce and may enter if you'd like for a small admission fee. We call this Italy`s Pantheon and here you will see the tombs of Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli, Ghiberti and many more, as well as the Pazzi Chapel. Depending on the interests and pace of your party, we may be able to add in a few other sights along the way.

The walking tour will end at 1:30pm when you will have time for a short break for lunch, and your driver guide will be happy to give you some suggestions based on your tastes and budget. By about 2:15pm it is time to depart for Pisa. The driver guide will again be happy to give you a general introduction to the city and the Piazza you will explore before dropping you off in Santa Maria dei Miracoli where you will be able to explore the Cathedral and the Tower at your leisure. You can visit the leaning Tower of Pisa, with or without entry, and we will want to know what you plan to do as we do not arrange these tickets, but rather it will be up to you to secure them at a time we suggest. With a 4:15pm departure to Livorno you can expect to arrive by about 5:30.
