Let Miles&Miles assist you in creating an unforgettable and stress-free journey! The Driver Service to Ostia Antica from Rome with a walking guide is a day exploring the ruins found in this area. Having a driver will allow for a smooth day providing you transportation to and from your Rome hotel and Ostia Antica. Take a stroll through what may be Rome’s first “colonia”  known for the excellent preservation of ancient buildings, magnificent frescoes and impressive mosaics. Discover ancient archaeological remains that date back to the 4th century B.C. Tradition says that Ostia was founded by Ancus Marcus, the 4th king of Rome, who lived during the second half of the 7th century B.C. This ancient city was first built near the mouth of the Tiber i.e the word “Ostia” meaning mouth in Latin. Salt was very important at that time since it doesn’t just add flavour to food but it also helps preserve it, therefore seeing that the area was rich in salt marshes, this city was very important to Rome so keeping an eye on the production of this mineral  was an absolute must. 

This is a round trip driver service to Ostia Antica with a private guided tour of 2 hrs of the archeological site. This is a 4 hour day from Rome and additional time can be added at an hourly rate by contacting the office. The starting time can fluctuate depending on availability so be sure to let us know if you have any time restrictions so that we can arrange your day appropriately.

On this tour you will get to take glimpse of what remains of this wonderful city and the vacant surrounding where nothing modern has been built will help you feel as if you just took a step back in time. Additional Information To Note:

• This day starts from your local Rome area hotel with a simple driver. The guide will accompany you to the ruins.
• In case you just can`t get enough, you can add additional time at an hourly rate. Please ask for pricing in this case.
• If your group is larger than 7 people we will need a second van as our largest vehicles are 8 passenger vans and we need 1 spot for the walking guide. Let us know if you group is larger than 7 people. 
• Admission is 14Eadult generally and if there is an exhibit going on, the cost increases to 18E. Kids 17 and younger are free. Tickets paid upon entry. Approximate prices listed are for your convenience only and are be subject to change as pricing is outside of the control of Miles&Miles Private Tours.
• The last Sunday in October until the last Saturday in March the closing time is between 4:30pm-5:30pm depending on the month. The last Sunday in March to the last Saturday in October closing time is between 6:30pm-7:15pm depending on the month. Site is open at 8:30am all year around. 
• Headsets, admissions, and gratuities are not included in the price of the service and will be paid on your scheduled day at each venue.
• This tour is not available on a Monday or the first Sunday of each month.
