Tour Description:
At 8.30AM your day starts from the drop off point after you are shuttled by the cruise line to the shuttle terminal in La Spezia where your driver escort will be waiting with a sign bearing your name. We will be waiting for you with a comfortable, air conditioned, late model Mercedes van to start out a day of amazing sightseeing.
Before we arrive into Tuscany, we will drive the scenic coastline road along the Gulf of Poets stopping for a Cappuccino in Lerici or San Terenzo or other coastal village. Continuing the drive along the Versilia Coast, known as the South Beach of Tuscany, we will pass Forte dei Marmi, famous for the designer shopping and Italian vacation homes. En-route your guide will also point out Viareggio, which is famous for yacht construction. After crossing the Monti Pisani, the mountains of Pisa, we will have a visit in Lucca. Lucca, enclosed in its 16th Century Renaissance-era walls, is a delightful town with surprises around every corner. These walls were used primarily for military reasons but now are used as pedestrian promenades. From the local tasty traditional pastries, the open piazza where once stood a Roman Amphitheater to the long streets lined with medieval buildings and towers that now house fashion boutiques and jewelry shops. The city`s charm remains and can be enjoyed with a walk or bike ride on the massive tree-lined walls. In Lucca you will have time to explore on your own as the vans cannot drive through the limited traffic zones so you can choose to see it on foot or you are adventurous and are interested renting a bike on the spot, the route is about 3 miles long.

After exploring Lucca, we will drive towards Montecarlo where we can arrange a guided visit to a winery and you can experience some of the local DOCG wines there. Now is the time to have a Tuscan “Merenda” which we can do right at a beautiful winery. This light lunch, usually consists of homemade bread, salami, cheeses and wine and a first course as well. All of the typical flavors of Tuscany can be enjoyed right at the winery. Or, if you prefer, you can opt for a simple wine tasting at the winery and a traditional lunch at a local trattoria in the town of Montecarlo. Please let us know your preference so that we can organize your visit. You will enjoy the beautiful countryside as you drive back to the port of La Spezia and time allowing perhaps a stop for a gelato. You will set sail with a day full of wonderful memories of this part of Italy.

- This tour starts from the port of La Spezia at 8:30AM so be sure to check your disembarkation times.
- The approximate length of the day is 9 hours.
- Bike rentals are not included in the cost of the tour but can be organized by you on the spot.
- The optional wine tasting is available most days and the cost is typically 50E per person for the simple tasting. If you would like the light lunch and wine tasting this will be about 70E per person and will include the guided tour of the cellar. Tasting and lunch and is payable on the day of the service and are not included in the cost of the tour. Please let us know if you would like to include this option in your day and for how many people so that we may reserve in advance for you.
- Wine tastings, lunches, bike rentals, admissions and gratuities are not included in the price of the tour.
